All
about our Club
Running Night Format:
After arriving we have a
warm-up, this is very important if you want to avoid injuries, then the road captain
explains the choice of routes.
Routes:
Routes vary in length. We
try to cater for all abilities.
Beginners
courses usually start by walking/jogging around the perimeter
of
Dawson
Park
(1.25 miles).
There
is usually a medium distance run of between 2 and 4 miles and a longer run of
between 4 and 6 miles. These runs build up over a 4 week cycle.
To
add a bit of variety, we sometimes invite a coach to give us a training session
to help us improve. For example speed, stamina, technique or maybe even
all three!
We
pound the streets in and around the Broughty Ferry
Area and in the summer include the nearby countryside.
Away Nights for Summer 2009
On the first
Monday of the month between May and September we go to an off-road location such as
Camperdown Country
Park, Tentsmuir or Broughty
Ferry
Beach to
make best use of the beautiful surroundings Tayside has to offer.
Next away
night: Monday 6th July, Crombie Country Park. Meet in the car
park at 6.20pm.
Social
At the end of January we have an Apres Christmas
Lunch / Evening Meal. This year we had a lovely meal at The Ship Inn, Broughty Ferry
with a great turn-out of Running Sisters members.
Events
Every
March we hold our own 5k Fun run at Monikie
Country
Park, which is
open to all women over the ages of 17. In
September, we also often run a second event at Crombie Country Park.
Safety Information
Wear something white, bright or fluorescent
so you can be seen. The club provides
fluorescent bands to wear around the body.
Make sure you know where the run is going.
Always run with a group of at least one other
person.
Be aware of the people behind you - run back to
check they are okay - use the run back as speed training.
Be sure to warm down after the run and don't let
yourself get cold.
Always cross your name off the list when you get
back so the road captain knows you are safe.
